“Bloom” is a beautiful coming of age story of Lily, a young person with a disability in the 1960s through the 1990s. The play follows along as the country and her identity grow.

“Bloom” highlights the complicated and painful history of division in the United States and well as the powerful movements that set the ground work for change and inclusion.

Each generation must build off the strides made by those that came before, as well as create a voice and an agenda that is uniquely of their time.  This country’s history has a strong foundation of rebellion and “Bloom” takes a look into the everyday rebellions that individuals take when they recognize that change is called for.

“Bloom” is a story of individuals setting a course for transformation. Each character is faced with challenging long held prejudices and the status quo, while becoming heroes in small and large ways. The play reflects the many facets of life-tender moments, feelings of powerless, frustrating situations, humorous interactions and hopeful opportunities.

FAQs about booking a BOLD-choice Theatre production:

What is BOLD-choice Theatre all about?
• BOLD-choice is an outreach theatre program that creates original productions and tours them at schools and organizations, spreading a message of acceptance, diversity, and personal pride.

When does BOLD-choice Theatre perform?
• BOLD-choice is available to perform on Tuesday afternoons at your school or organization.
• A 1:00 pm performance time often works out to be the best time for a performance.

How much does it cost to bring BOLD-choice to your school or organization?
• A BOLD-choice production is $500 per production for K-12 schools, $800 for higher education or community hosts and $1000 for corporate trainings.

What size space is needed for a BOLD-choice production? How does set-up work?
• A performance space that is large enough to suffice both actors and audience.
• The actual performance area should be approximately 25’ deep by 25’ wide.
• On the day of the performance this space must be available at 9:00 am to allow the crew to set up for the performance.
• Actors arrive at 11:00 am to rehearse. This becomes a closed rehearsal until 15 minutes prior to show time (30 minutes prior for public audience presentations).

What age group does BOLD-choice appeal to?
• We have found that BOLD’s unique style of performance appeals to all ages. Young children find the costumes, music and characters fun and it gets them used to redefining who is an actor and who is a star. Middle and High School students, as well as adult audiences, can relate to the humor, themes and moral lessons.

Why would a school want BOLD-choice Theatre to perform for its students?
• BOLD-choice provides high impact Issue Awareness Entertainment that promotes student discussion concerning topics such as:
                            • disability and diversity awareness
                            • bullying and teasing
                            • appreciation of differences
