Yoga Class

  •

Benefits of Yogic Practice Include:
  • *Building muscular strength and flexibility
*Promotion of proper alignment and posture
  • *Relief of stress and muscular tension
  • *Increased lung function and capacity
  • *Assisting function of the lymph system
  • *Offering a sense of relaxation and well-being

Class begins with calming breath exercises and gentle warm up movements, followed by more flowing postures that stretch and strengthen the muscles.  The joints will be given the opportunity to flex and widen their range of motion.  These movements will be followed by a time to breathe deeply and learn relaxation techniques.  Hatha Yoga encourages physical health through exercise and mental health through stillness and relaxation.  By building a connection between body and mind the whole person benefits.  Yoga is not associated with any religion.  It is simply an ancient system of movement and stillness proven to bring health and wellness to body and mind.  Therefore everyone can enjoy its many benefits.

Classes are taught by Sharon Dawson RYT.  Ms. Dawson is a certified Hatha Yoga Teacher, with advanced training in Therapeutic Yoga for Cardiac and Cancer issues. She is registered with the National Yoga Alliance and studied with Susi Hately.  Ms. Dawson also teaches the “Art of Yoga" for women in recovery programs.   She is an experienced instructor, having taught Gentle Yoga to individuals involved with CHOICE, unlimited for several years and having taught Hatha Yoga and Meditation Classes for a number of years.
