Seeking Employment & Career Opportunities for people who are Deaf/Hard of Hearing

Assists people who are Deaf/Hard of Hearing in
obtaining and maintaining long-term competitive
jobs with career goals in mind

Assists in development of employment plans toward
realistic short and long-term outcomes

Supports individuals during training, certification, and
internship or apprentice programs.

Provides communication facilitation using American
Sign Language and other modalities


SECO offers:

Job Development/Placement:

Resume development, cover letter writing, completeing applications, mock interviews; initial on-site interpreting; job analysis; assessment of long-term needs; job accomodations and technical assistance; identification of outcomes and means to achieve them

Job Support:

Support by employment specialists proficient in American Sign Language and knowledgeable of deaf awareness and work culture issues; suport in training new job skills; communication facilitation with employers and co-workers

Personal Adjustment Skills Training:


Short-term support in areas of transportation, money management, assistance with entitlements and self-advocacy

Pre-Vocational Support Services:


Mentoring and tutoring to assist with specialized training needs leading towards certifications, licenses, degrees; life-skill instruction to access community resources that in turn support long-term employment


Technical Assistance and Education:
Assistance and Instruction for employers and co-workers in deaf culture, communication, and technology; resource center and lending library of assistive equipment, books and videos focusing on employment and deaf culture.
