ARTS Program

The ARTS Program’s mission is to offer creative outlets and platforms for self-expression, personal growth, and an opportunity to educate the public about the incredible possibilities all individuals possess.

The program provides activities and experiences that encourage creativity, independent thinking, relationship building, confidence, and self-motivation. These opportunities may be funded through Day Support Services, Individualized Home Supports, or may be paid privately.

Professionally Taught Classes in a Variety of Art Mediums

Visual Art

Students participate in a variety of mediums and styles during a class session, creating finished pieces. In addition, students learn about art history and influential artists. Throughout the year student artists display their work in art galleries in the community.

Movement/Dance

Students explore different genres of music and movement, gaining greater body awareness and control and becoming comfortable expressing emotions through their movements. Students learn original choreography and perform in community settings.

Acting

Students gain valuable communication and performance skills while having fun. The class learns how to portray different characters and emotions while participating in theatre exercises and improvisations, creating original one-act plays to perform for the community.

Creative Writing

Students explore creative writing through instruction and introduction to renowned writers. Each class includes writing time, time to share work, and feedback. Students share their finished work at a community poetry reading.

Music

Students learn components of musical improvisation as well as rehearsal and song building. The class identifies students’ natural strengths—instrumentation, voice, rhythm, and lyric work—while encouraging growth and exploration in new experiences. The class creates collaborative, original pieces of music to record and perform for the community.

Classes are available to individuals served by CHOICE, unlimited as well as other members of the community. Call Annie Roseen, ARTS Program Director for more information 218 724 5869 ext. 206
